The Arts of Subjugating the Planets and Subjugating the Jinn and Humans by Sirāj al-Dīn al-Sakkākī (1160-1229 AD)

Introduction to the Text
The following is a partial translation of the Persian grimoire Taskhīrāt, attributed to the celebrated medieval scholar and esoteric master, Sirāj al-Dīn al-Sakkākī (d. 1229 CE). It focuses specifically on the first half of the text, which is devoted to the Subjugation of the Planets (Taskhīrāt al-Kawākib). These rituals form part of a broader Islamic tradition of astral magic (siḥr kawkabī), where each planet is associated with a specific spiritual regime, material configuration, and invocation formula (ʿazīma). The work reflects the integration of magical, cosmological, and devotional disciplines, and would have circulated among practitioners trained in both the occult sciences and religious law. The Ḥarrānian Sabians (al-Ṣābiʾa) believed that all events in the terrestrial realm were produced by the configuration of the planets, and that each planet and celestial sphere was animated by a rūḥ falakī or rūḥānīyāt—celestial spirits or souls. These souls could be harnessed to obtain power over the sublunary world through ritual; to become like the celestial souls and alone command the movement of the heavenly spheres. In doing so, it was said that a human being could transcend their humanity and achieve perfection of the soul—reaching what Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī (d. 1210) called the perfect nature (al-ṭibāʿ al-tamm).
Apparently, Taskhīrāt was excerpted and elaborated from Sakkākī’s major work, Kitāb al-Shāmil wa Baḥr al-Kāmil (The Encompassing Book and Ocean of Perfection), as well as from his other known writings in the science of subjugation (ʿilm al-taskhīr). Even if compiled posthumously, the content clearly dates to the early 13th century and may be viewed as a kind of “Collected Works.” Notably, however, Sakkākī himself was drawing—if not borrowing heavily—from an even earlier figure: the sorcerer and religious scholar Abū al-Faḍl Muḥammad al-Ṭabasī (d. 1089), who had composed a book with an almost identical title some 100 to 150 years earlier: al-Shāmil fī al-Baḥr al-Kāmil (The Comprehensive Book to the Entire Sea).
Each planetary rite consists of a detailed regimen of fasting, bodily purification, invocations, and solitude—culminating in the construction of a mandal, a concentric ritual figure comprised of alternating placements of iron rods (Arabic. alwāḥ fūlādhiyya) or (Persian. mile fooladi), daggers (sakākīn) or (Persian. kārdhā), and flags or banners (aʿlām), in which the practitioner sits to receive a vision, command spirits, or attain esoteric knowledge. The mandal, Indian in origin, was later adopted and transformed in Western esoteric traditions, where it became the prototype for the Solomonic magic circle—one of the most recognizable and influential structures in ceremonial magic.
The planetary spirits are called upon using potent ʿazāʾim, written in arcane forms, often derived from Syriac, Judaeo-Arabic and other syncretic sources. The instructions are highly prescriptive and make frequent mention of visionary results, divine names, and the ethical comportment required of the operator.
Though planetary taskhīr texts such as these derive their structure from Hellenistic and late antique models (notably the Picatrix tradition), the system presented here is Islamically framed, invoking Quranic authority, naming God as the ultimate source of power, and situating ritual success within moral and theological bounds. The results promised by these rites range from spiritual insight and command over jinn to material benefits, protection, healing, and the unlocking of divine secrets. In many cases, the text promises direct encounters with celestial intelligences in anthropomorphic or visionary form.
This translation preserves the original page-by-page order of the original Arabic, retaining ritual vocabulary such as mandal and key names without substitution or explanatory parentheses (e.g., “Invocation” (azīma)). Material instructions—such as specific colors, metals, or dietary restrictions—have been rendered as plainly as possible. The schematic diagrams of the mandals have been supplemented from a unidentified Persian manuscript because the figures were corrupted in the exemplar. They have also been relocated to the end of each planetary ritual for clarity and footnoted with both an explanation and more detailed instructions from the Taskhīrāt in Chester Beatty MS IN2 f.221r-f.226v). The Incense combinations have been supplemented from the same manuscript. Where necessary, orthographic or scribal anomalies have been noted silently to preserve the flow of the ritual logic.
An unabbreviated edition of this work is forthcoming, which will include more detailed planetary operations and all the Taskhīrāt rituals (e.g., specific jinn, angels, human subjugations, etc.), instructions for all incenses, additional narrative, ritual correspondences, and variations preserved across different manuscript witnesses. The present edition offers a basic and accessible version intended to make this important material available to non-Arabic and non-Persian speakers. Much of the content known in the West has been distorted or corrupted over time, often severed from its original linguistic, cultural, and ritual context. By returning to the original Arabic, Persian, and Sanskrit sources, English-speaking students of the occult may gain a clearer, more authentic understanding of this tradition.
The appendix includes almost a dozen facsimiles of Taskhīrāt manuscripts. Enjoy!

Subjugation of the Sun (Taskhīr al-Shams)
If you wish to subjugate the Sun, you must fast for three days, bathing each day, and wear a yellow or red garment. Each day you should stand facing the Sun at its rising and at its setting. Knead the incense into shapes with a piece of red goldstone and burn them together — eight mithqāls each day — while standing at the center of the mandal as if standing before a king. Continuously recite the prescribed divine names, and at sunset for two days sacrifice a yellow animal (either a calf or a sheep), ensuring that you remain in place until nightfall without leaving the mandal.
Know that each planet has its own specific time for subjugation, and the operation is only effective during that period. If you complete one hundred and thirty-one days in this manner, you will attain an awe-inspiring majesty such that kings and sultans will humble themselves before you, and all creatures will fear you and draw near, serving you completely, sparing neither their persons nor their wealth.
Moreover, occult sciences (ʿulūm gharība) will be unveiled to you, and you will feel the possession of a great power by which you can lift the greatest objects from the earth with ease. When fifty days have elapsed — which is the appointed period for the Sun’s subjugation — you may step out of the mandal when necessary, provided you purify yourself and return afterward. Finally, construct two gates for the mandal you have inscribed within your house. [Page 8] One gate is for the entrance of the Sun and the other for its setting. These gates must be large enough that the Sun’s rays falls within them both at the beginning and at the end of the day. Throughout this period, you must continuously remember God and recite the Most Beautiful Names (al-asmāʾ al-ḥusnā).
You must also recite the solemn invocation for acts of subjugationn (ʿAzīzat al-Taskhīr) every day 1,361 times, blowing [your breath] toward the Sun, and recite the Shāfiʿī prayer of protection (ḥirz) one hundred times daily, blowing upon yourself. If opportunity permits, recite whatever portions of the Qurʾān you can, for during the fifty days, collections of treasures and hidden stores will be opened for you — including treasures of gold, red rubies, and all things associated with the Sun — and their locations will be revealed to you.
The spirits of the Sun (arwāḥ al-shams) will appear to you in exceedingly beautiful forms, speaking to you twice daily. Drowsiness during the day and sleep during the night will be lifted from you, and you will be astonished at the grandeur and force that will come over you. Beware of becoming heedless of the power and greatness of God, exalted is He.
If the Sun sets on the fifty-first night, three red heifers will appear from the western side of the sky and three yellow heifers from the east. Upon them will be riders made of light; their mounts of light and their faces radiant with light. From them will issue the fragrance of Paradise. Should you lose consciousness, they will gather around you and say:
“O servant whom God has honored and to whom He has granted from His power! God has bestowed upon you dignity and might — sovereignty over the earth up to the Fourth Heaven. Rejoice, for all creatures will humble themselves before you, including the kings of the earth. O righteous servant, you have summoned us by God’s command from the higher world to the lower. Ask your need and request what you desire.”

They will say:
“Our desire is to see you, and our hope is the manifestation of God’s power through you.”
They will obey His commands through you and accomplish whatever you wish.
As for the Shāfiʿī prayer of protection (ḥirz), it is as follows:
“In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate.
O God, I seek refuge in the Light of Your Holiness, Your Majesty, Your Purity, and the Blessing of Your Glory — from every affliction and plague, and from all the terrors of the night and day, and from the jinn and mankind, except one who approaches with goodness.
O Most Compassionate, O Most Merciful! O God, You are my Succor; You are my Refuge and my Protector. I seek refuge in You, O You before whom tyrants are humbled and before whom the necks of the proud are bowed low.
I seek refuge in the Majesty of Your Face from Your disgrace, from the uncovering of Your concealment, from forgetfulness of Your remembrance, and from falling short in showing gratitude to You. Truly, I am within Your Protection. [page 10] My night and my day, my sleep and my rising, my stillness and my travel — all are marked by Your remembrance, Your banner, and Your radiance.
There is no god but You; You alone are exalted by Your Name and glorified by Your praises. By the majesty of Your Face, reward me and protect me from Your punishment and the consequences of my sins. Bring me into the shelter of Your protection, Your concern, and Your favor.
O Most Merciful of the merciful!
And may God’s blessings be upon Muhammad and his family, all of them.”
As for the invocation (ʿazīma), it is:
“In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate.
I call upon You, O Sovereign, O Sublime One, O Dominating Lord, by the truth of: ʿAyṭanūsh, Waṭar Hīmūsh, Raḥīmū Ṭarūsh, Wakī Kūrūsh, Jamhūrāsh, Ṭalimūsh — respond! O Mandalāsh, O Ṭahmīmiyādalīn — by the truth of Arghīmū Jarsh and Ḍalhīmū ʿAṭash — respond to my call! You are the Sovereign King, the one who is invoked — by the truth of these Mighty Names.“
The incense to be used consists of: White Frankincense (kondor e sefid), Saffron (zafaran), yellow musk (moshk-e-zard), cedar buds (go-lesarve) , rose buds (halileh rose), pomegranate buds (goleanar), agarwoord (oud), meer-schaum (kafedarya), Egyptian Anbar -of whale-(shahbemesri) which should be ground and mixed into a paste (Khamirkonad) with something made of stone (samghi) to be kept ready for the time of need.
The following is the mandal for subjugating Sun1:

1 The Mandal of the Sun is inscribed at its center with the phrase, جای نشستن طالب (
jāy-i nishastan-i ṭālib, “Place for the seeker to sit”). Around it, the word علم (ʿalam, “flag” or “banner”) appears in the four corners, while کارد (kārd, “dagger”) is written on the sides. The Master of the Assembly (saheb-e-daavat) must first draw four mandals in the form of a square, each one separate from the other and drawn with gold and copper. He should drive a dagger into each side of the mandal and place a iron rod with a piece of golden silk in each of the four corners. He should then draw a circle within the square. During the ritual, the master should sit within the lines while reciting the invocations to remain safe from evil.
Subjugation of the Planet Jupiter (Taskhīr Kawkab al-Mushtarī)
Shaykh Sirāj al-Dīn al-Sakkākī, may God have mercy on him, said: If you wish to subjugate the planet Jupiter, you must fast for one hundred and sixty days. During this time, recite the solemn invocation for acts of subjugation seventy times daily for sixty-six consecutive days, while maintaining complete ritual purity throughout.
When the sixty-six days have passed, enter seclusion in a purified space. Sit in the center of the mandal, ensuring that the flags are made of silk and the daggers are iron. Recite the invocation one hundred and twenty times each day.
When this is complete, recite the Four Names and exit the mandal, calling out from within:
O Shamʿalū Jarsh, O Jīlū ʿAṭash, O Jālhamūsh, O Ṭarhīmū Jarsh.
The total duration of the subjugation is one hundred and sixty-six days. Every five days, you must slaughter an animal as a ritual offering, without consuming its meat—or any other meat—for thirty days.
After this, you will begin to feel a powerful majesty settle in your heart. You will be humbled before scholars, elders, judges, and dignitaries, and they will honor you. They will defer to your commands and support your rulings.
Whoever desires rank or position will seek your favor. All who hear you will admire your behavior and speech. People from every region will present you with wealth and gifts of gold. [Page 12] The veils of knowledge will be lifted from you. Your tongue will be unleashed in the sciences of interpretation and jurisprudence, and in the solving of complex matters.
If you then fast a little longer and remain patient until the rain falls, you will witness two radiant figures appear among the clouds—there will be no sight more beautiful than them.
They will be two tall beings of light, luminous from both in front and behind. On their heads are crowns of radiance. They will descend to you and say:
“We have not come by our own power. Rather, your Lord has honored you. God, exalted and blessed, has sent the righteous servant to carry out your request and fulfill your need.”
If you ask them for anything besides a vision of them, they will grant it. One will be clothed in green, the other in blue. Written upon them are the Most Beautiful Names of God (al-asmāʾ al-ḥusnā).
The scent of Paradise will pour forth from them until you lose consciousness and become unaware of yourself. You will remain in that state for three days. When you awaken, you will feel a sweetness in your soul the like of which you have never experienced.
They will pledge obedience to you and give you good news of a long life and continued unveiling of mysteries for the rest of your days. [Page 13] From that point onward, all that is required of you is to continue in the remembrance of God and to draw near to Him by calling upon His Names. Remain constant in your recitation of the Qurʾān, and make a solemn vow to God to avoid all sins.
You must distance yourself from the forbidden and the disliked, eat only what is necessary, and reduce your speech.
As for the invocation (ʿazīma) to be recited, it is:
“I command you, O pure and noble lord, by the truth of: ʿArṭīmūsh, Waṭūnūsh, Rahṭūʿūsh, Yā Ṭalimīsh, Jilmūʿūsh, ʿArṭīmāṭīn, Bi-ḥaqq ʿArghīmūsh, Jalʿīṭūsh, Jarmīṭūsh, Jarmṭanāsh, Qarhū, Jībūsh — respond to my call. O One King, Bi-ḥaqq Hānūsh, Hīṭīsh, Bi-ḥaqq Your Right, and by the sanctity of Your Great Lordship —by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.”
The combination of the incense is as follows: sandros (sandros), puppy peels (poostekhashkhash), monster’s nail (nakhane div), Safran (zaferan), amber (anbar), Miah (meiaa) which should be of equal weight; they should all be crushed and mixed together and every night he must burn 10 mithqal of it while reciting the conjuration.
The following is the mandal for subjugating Jupiter2:

2 The Mandal of Jupiter is inscribed with the word, علم (ʿalam, “flag” or “banner”) in the four corners and کارد (kārd, “dagger”) on two of its sides. Although “siting place” is not specified in the schematic, the Master of the Assembly is nevertheless seated at the center of the design. According to MS IN02, You should choose a location and plaster it so its smoke-sealed (be gach-andūd konī) and in that location [in it or around it?], you should draw a mandal with six lines of which five are squares and one is a circle; Draw the mandal with 6 stainless steel rods. This could be done with daggers but during the time of ritual one should not take them out of the chamber (khāneh) – either during day or night – for the fear of Mars. When you leave the mandal, you should recite the four names mentioned and blow upon himself.
[page 14]Subjugation of the Planet Saturn (Taskhīr Kawkab Zūḥal)
From Shaykh Sirāj al-Dīn al-Sakkākī, may God have mercy on him:
If you wish to subjugate the planet Saturn, you must fast for seventy days, wear only clean black garments, abstain from eating animals, and search for a location near water where you will not be disturbed for a full day.
Know that subjugating Saturn requires seventy days. Enter and purify that place, and wear black wool — if unavailable, use any other black cloth. Reduce your interactions with people, and then go to one of the ancient cemeteries. Read these four names:
O ʿAbd al-Mulūsh, Qarhū ʿAṭṭāsh, Mūṭasṭahīl, Sāʿrūʿūnūsh.
Then write these names and suspend them from your neck to ensure safety from harm.
Next, draw the mandal in the space, sit in its center, and recite the invocation 1,366 times — once at the start of day, again at the end of day, then again in the early and late parts of the night. Each night, burn incense.
After completing the invocation, recite the Four Names again, and exit the place. You must remain in a state of ritual purity for forty consecutive days.
Once that period ends, you will feel a tremendous force within yourself. The locations of buried treasure and hidden stores will be revealed to you. You will possess an imposing presence, and others will fear and obey you. You will sense the ability to dominate most beings — especially spirits, djinn, and realities.
You will be able to locate sources of water with precision, even causing it to flow by striking the ground with your foot — as God blessed you with. [Page 15] After this, you will cease to feel heat or cold. From that day forward, you will no longer feel the desire to sleep. Then you will hear a dreadful voice and see a figure with a terrifying appearance. Do not fear. A man will appear, black-skinned, with a long beard, coarse hair, two heads, and three faces. A foul stench will come from him as he approaches slowly and says:
“O righteous servant, I have come near because of your need. You have fulfilled my command. Blessed and exalted is God! I will not disobey your command. Tell me your order and I shall carry it out.”
He will give you his seal. If he entrusts you with his seal, it means you have mastered the rites of the Earth and what lies beneath it. The seal has many benefits, especially the power to overcome offensive odors. If this person were a hairless youth with no beard or dark hair, and he bore the seal, then with God’s permission he could astonish the world with his beauty and magnificence.
Even if he were to pass his hand over the eyes of the blind, they would regain sight. And if he were seated, striking the ground with his foot, he would say:
“I have been subjugated to you, and I conceal myself at your command. Call me with this green seal whenever you are in need, and I shall appear immediately.”
He must be honored and given due respect to obtain benefits from him. One must frequently recite the conjuration in order to act effectively upon all things, especially love and hatred. This conjuration is not used for trivial or base purposes, nor is it suited to those of low station.
This is considered one of the most difficult subjugations, and it requires immense reverence. It is only made easy for the people of knowledge. Praise be to God.
The invocation (ʿazīma) is:
In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate.
I command you, O majestic king, O exalted, great, overwhelming, mighty one, by the truth of Ṭarmiyāsh, Jahmūʿīsh, Gharṭū Nāsh, Sandūmahsh, Ṭarṭūṭūlīn, Ṭurkūtūnash, Qarṭūnashū, Jahlūṭūsh, Ṭarkūnashū, Bāṭīṭūnūṭ, Shalīṭūnūṭ, Ṭurkūrnūṭ, Jahlīmūṭūsh, Ṭūṭūsh, Dārūsh, Hīmaṭash, Hīmaṭūsh— [Page 16] I ask you, O ancient shaykh, the one who resides firmly by the right of your mighty Creator.”
The incense you need to burn is: Frankincen (seskin), amber (anbar), cedar skin (poostensarve), black cardamom (Kali Elaichi)
And this is the shape of the mandal for subjugating Saturn3:

nishastan-i ṭālib (“place to sit”). Around it, the word, f علم (ʿalam, “flag” or “banner”) appears in the four corners, while کارد (kārd, “dagger”) is written on the sides. According to MS IN02, the mandal should be drawn with seven rods [five squares and one circle], Impressed upon the lines with such force that they could not be effaced. There should be four banners in the four corners of the mandal with flags made of white silk (harīr-e sefid) and black fabric (sūf-e siyāh).
Subjugation of the Planet Mars (Taskhīr Kawkab al-Mirrīkh)
Shaykh Sirāj al-Dīn al-Sakkākī said: If you wish to subjugate Mars, you must fast for seventy-five days, wear only red or yellow clothing, and tie a strip of yellow cloth around your head. Isolate yourself in a pure place and place five iron rods in a square, with a dagger at each of the four corners. Write at each corner one of the following four names:
O Hīṭmāṭash, Bāṭlīmaṭash, O Ṭarfū ʿArsh, O Shībū ʿAṭash.
Sit there once each night and recite the solemn invocation for acts of subjugation 441 times in this place. If you wish to leave the mandal, do not lift the rods or daggers. Instead, place your right foot outside first, then read the five names aloud, blow on your hands, and wipe your face.
If you wish to exit again, repeat the same actions. The total duration of subjugation is 141 days. If this time passes successfully, you will emerge in peace. As for the five names, they are:
O Taqīfū Tūrūn, O Jahlīmūmīsh, O Durūṭūrūsh, O Ṭahmūmū Nawāsh, O Jald Warash.
Then a great fear will fill his heart, and sleep will leave him. His eyes will turn red, and his dread will deepen. Then he will feel tremendous power and boldness, softening iron and kneading it like dough. Nothing will resist him. His fragrance will overpower all who approach, and his breath will spread aromatic vapor wherever he goes. [Page 18] He will command even kings and rulers, and they will approach him with reverence. On the 41st day, Mars will appear in fearful splendor amid red clouds.
At its center will be an immense being, like a giant of fire, seated atop a great red mountain. His head is crowned with a red sword, and in his hands are two immense blades. He strikes fear in the hearts of all who behold him.
After an hour, ten red-faced figures will appear. Each will carry a basin filled with 70,000 red rubies and 70,000 green emeralds. A mighty ring of ruby will also be present, inscribed with the name of a person, which will be shown to you.
Mars will say:
“O intimate friend, the entire world fears me and flatters me. God has granted you a mighty kingship. As long as you are with me, I will obey you and fulfill your every need. I will never disobey you.”
“I shall give you my seal. You now have the power to destroy your enemies in the furthest west or east. Even if you picked up a stone, this seal will allow you, by God’s permission, to turn it into ruby. Indeed, you may turn dust itself into ruby.”
You must protect this seal from the sight of others.
The following is the mandal for subjugating Mars4:

Subjugation of the Planet Venus (Taskhīr al-Zuhrah)
Imām Muḥammad Sirāj al-Dīn al-Sakkākī, may God have mercy on him, said:
If you wish to subjugate Venus, you must fast for forty-three days. Then prepare a location for yourself in a place with plastered walls (bi-l-jass = ‘with lime’) and spread the ground with red sand. Place three iron rods there in the form of a square.
Begin the work at dawn, while the sun is rising. The duration of subjugation is 131 days. You must enter the place twice each day—once in the morning and once at night. Burn incense and sit in the mandal, and recite the the solemn invocation for acts of subjugation 701 times before exiting.
After that, recite the Three Names and wear pure white clothing. You must always remain in a state of purity, reciting the noble Qur’an regularly. The Three Names are:
O Ṭalhīmāsh, O Ṭalṭīmīāsh, O Qarfūnash.
When twenty days have passed, your heart will be purified and your appearance will become radiant and lovely. Your beauty will captivate people and your voice will become melodious. If you were old, you would appear as a youth. The sciences and all kinds of knowledge will become easy for you. Grief and lethargy will vanish. Your voice will grow gentle and light. If you called to the deaf, they would hear you, and every woman would respond to your voice. [Page 21] On the thirty-first night, just before dawn, a dazzling light will appear—so bright it blinds the eyes. Venus will appear in the center of that light, enthroned, seated on a white chariot like polished silver. Her face is golden, her ears adorned with rubies, and on her face are seventy marks of radiant beauty.
It is impossible to describe the perfection of her face. Upon your completion of the operation, she will stretch out her arm, pull you close, kiss your head, and inscribe her seal upon your chest. She will say:
“With this seal, you will never be in need again. It will fulfill your every desire by God’s permission. You will be freed of all sorrow and distress. Everyone will admire you—kings, scholars, poets—and the gates of knowledge will open to you.”
Know that this invocation is exceedingly great. It contains the Supreme Name of God. [Page 22] The invocation is as follows:
In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate.
I command you, O happy lady, smiling and radiant, by the truth of: ʿĪd Lāmūsh, Rakhlīmūsh, Qarhū Ṭāsh, Halīmū Ṭāshīt, Malaʿū Ṭarīsh, ʿĀʿīhīmū Ṭarīsh, Rasrūhīndāsh, ʿAyyūh Ṭahāsh, Kayfū Dhārā, Hīyaṭlīmīt Ṭalṭīmūt—Answer my call, O eternal, exalted, ever-living one, by the greatness of Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.”
The following is the mandal for subjugating Venus5:

nishastan-i ṭālib (“place to sit”) at its center and کارد (kārd, “dagger”) in the four corners. Although the text maintains that iron rods should be placed, additional manuscript witnesses say otherwise. The above figure is therefore accurate.
Subjugation of Mercury (Taskhīr ʿUṭārid)
Imām Muḥammad Sirāj al-Dīn al-Sakkākī, may God have mercy on him, said:
If you wish to subjugate Mercury (ʿUṭārid), then fast for six days and wear blue garments. The duration of subjugation is twenty-one days, and the signs will begin to appear after eighty days. You must remain in seclusion in a pure place. Construct the figure there: it must contain three iron rods and four daggers. Sit in the center and burn incense. Recite the ʿazīma of subjugation 1101 times. Also recite these Three Names upon exiting:
Nahīmīsh, Ḥarīmīyūsh, ʿAydīmūsh.
Always remain in a state of purity. Withdraw once per day and wear pure blue garments. After eighteen days, you will begin to see greenish light around you and beautiful faces. The knowledge of the stars and the exalted sciences will be unveiled to you. You will grasp the full field of subjugation and the knowledge of alchemy. These are from the secrets of the friends of God, and God grants them to whomever He wills.
On the twenty-first night, a person will descend from the heavens, his head adorned with emerald and his feet with sapphire. No one has seen anyone more beautiful than him. He wears a green turban, carries a green book, and light shines from his chest. When he places the book upon your lap and you open it, your entire life will be laid open. The veils will be lifted from you.
He will say:
“Ask of me what you wish.”
This seal has the property of transforming substances and altering realities according to your will. He will give you the seal, green in color, with the Name of God written upon it in yellow.
Beware: do not allow anyone to see it. The Three Names to be recited are:
Nahīmīsh, Ḥarīmīyūsh, ʿAydīmūsh.
The invocation (ʿazīma) is:
In the Name of God, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate.
I command you, O luminous king seated upon the secret veils of hidden wisdom,
by the right of: ʿArʿiyūshūṭaṭīyūṭ, Qarfūq, Ḥayyūth, Tarḥīmūʿarsh, Jahlīmīyīt, Tarmūt Hushājmūhūt, Ṭarshāsh Lamḥūṭrāsh, Qayd Nūsh, [Page 25] Jalmad, Hūth, Nayrāsh, ʿAlmīṭāsh — answer my call by the right of these names:
Yā Dharānīsh, Malīsh — by the glory of God and the might of this exaltation.
The following is the mandal for subjugating Mercury6:

While other Manuscript witnesses, such as IN54, mention pouring molten iron into the mandal, there is no mention of iron rods as this version maintains. For this reason, I believe the the above figure to be accurate.
[Page 26]Subjugation of the Moon (Taskhīr al-Qamar)
Shaykh Sirāj al-Dīn al-Sakkākī, may God’s mercy be upon him, said: If you wish to subjugate the Moon, you must fast for thirty days. Then, enter a secluded space with tablets of gypsum and place the daggers according to the figure. Light an incense stick at night and recite the invocation, and when dawn nears, leave the place only after reading the five names. Repeat this every day one hundred and sixty times. And if you wish to know the condition of the sick, then read this name these names aloud:
O Hāmālayṭūnāsh ʿAṭṭālīṭūsh.
Repeat it one hundred times. If you complete this duration (forty days), pray two rakʿas of ṣalāt every day. In the first rakʿa, recite the Fātiḥa followed by Sūrat al-Jinn seven times, and in the second rakʿa, recite the Fātiḥa followed by the two Muʿawwidhatayn. After this, recite the invocation, which is:
“In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Compassionate.
I command you, O mighty queen, by the skin of Māsh Arṭūnāsh, Hīmūrāsh, Ṭārūt Ṭaṭṭīmʿādāsh, ʿAjallāt ʿAjrālāsh, Hāljīmūsh, Hajlīmāt, ʿAshlūmūt, ʿAlī, Nāṭif, Hīd, Waṭīb, Ṭānūṭ, Ṭāṇūṭūsh, Jahlūṭiyā, Hūlūʿūṭīsh, Malʿūnīsh, Hawālāṭ, ʿAwwālāt — answer my call, O gentle, noble, generous queen! By the power of this conjuration, and by the right of Moses ﷺ and Muḥammad ﷺ!”
If you complete it, you will see someone with a beautiful, luminous appearance. If you see him, your sorrow and grief will be lifted. He will say to you:
“O righteous servant, [Page 27] I have come to you by the command of God, blessed and exalted is He. He has issued me to obey your command, so ask of me what you wish. But it is required that you now ascend in obedience and avoid disobedience. Refrain from that which is forbidden. Be in a state of purity constantly. Recite the Qurʾān frequently.
As for this seal, whenever you have me present, it will serve you. As long as I remain with you, the gates of knowledge and gnosis will open to you, and you will no longer need to question. Ask whatever you wish of wealth or gold, and I shall bring it to you in the blink of an eye.”
The incense combination is: white sandal (sandal-e-sefid), opium skin (pust-e-khashkhash), Safran (zaeferan), white Frankincense (kondor-e-sefid) ,soft Narcissus (narjes-e-tari), meerschaum (kaf-e-darya), Ben Oil tree (hob-e-alban), in equal amounts to be mixed to be used at the time of need.
The following is the mandal for subjugating Moon7:
