Large 8vo. Contemporary full vellum binding.
Condition: Binding, structurally sound and unrestored, with expected age-related wear. The vellum has developed an attractive warm patina and displays scattered soiling, minor staining, creasing, and natural cockling typical of early vellum bindings. The spine shows rubbing and moderate wear at the head and foot, though the binding remains solid. The original manuscript spine title is partially preserved but worn. Overall, the binding presents well and retains an appealing, untouched appearance. Some pages with noticeable browning/darkening, consistent with age and historical use, though without materially affecting readability.
The principal volume of Paracelsus’s magical and alchemical writings, this rare 1605 edition contains his influential treatises on alchemy, natural magic, spagyric philosophy, occult virtues, planetary and astral influences, magical characters and seals (ie. The Archidoxes of Magic), and the hidden powers of nature. These works established Paracelsus as one of the foundational figures of the Western esoteric tradition, profoundly influencing later alchemists, Rosicrucians, physicians, and ceremonial magicians.
