Description
Legend has it, there are nineteen seals on the ‘Circle of Dominion and Kingship’. King Solomon is said to have had seven from that circle which gave him authority over the jinn and the winds and the power to communicate with animals. Whoever owned all nineteen seals would have dominion over all aspects of creation. Depicted here are the seven that, according to Islamic tradition, were inscribed on his signet ring representing to the true, ineffable name of god.
In both Jewish and Islamic traditions, the amuletic use of the Seven Seals grant protection from the vicissitudes of life such as illness, oppression, attack or disaster. The magical uses of the seals include exorcism, curing epilepsy, evading execution, releasing a prisoner, winning battles, finding hidden treasure, securing respect and love, forgiving sins, punishing wrong-doers or afflicting one’s rivals; with them one may burn down their houses, sink their ships, make them forsake their land, and confer upon them anxiety, insomnia, blindness, diseases and death.
